    One note to add that wasn't available when I shot these; water resistance is 50 meters and LV specifically states that basic swimming is approved. So no deep dives, but swimming is fine.

      Without a doubt. Ask me anything you want about it, because I'm not beholden to anyone on this - "new" watches are a side gig for me. If there's something you want to know, I can give you an honest thumbs up or down.

    Generally good execution here, the blue dial version is far superior to the grey/silver dial model. The movement is really the star with these watches,: very well done and the 22KT microrotor as well as the finishing are executed nicely. While I don’t think I would buy this watch, I'd happily accept as a gift, especially the blue dial.

    I find this watch gorgeous and the details immaculate, but even if I had unlimited money I wouldn’t buy this at msrp. Yes if it’s advertised to those with the pocket book to buy one of their bags just because it’s LV, then sure why not throw this in the cart. But as anyone who buys watches for more than the Maison it comes from, quality as well as the heritage (different than Maison IMO), has to be considered. For that I’d agree with others this is more in the 12-15k msrp, if not less.

    Im actually surprised to see so much criticism in the comments about these. Its a completely original design while still giving the market exactly what it asked for, and a gorgeous movement to come with. Personally, im happy to see it exist, albeit a bit pricey. I rank it a 7.9/10

    Is this worth the money? The watch doesn’t really jump out at me and the LV name is synonymous for leather goods but not watches. Tough to break that image of being just a fashion watch. Thoughts?

  • @shaverray4462

    For €19,500 I’d expect to see a screw-link bracelet rather than pin and sleeve. As for the overall aesthetic, it’s pretty anodyne to my eyes and I can’t imagine there’s going to be an excess of demand over supply for this watch. Quite a nice-looking movement though.

    • @Styx8314
      @Styx8314 Год назад +2

      Yeah, you would think so. But even Patek uses pin sleeves on some of their Nautilus models around 2012. I think that's a 30,000 dollar watch on list.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  Год назад +12

      I talked to them about that, and it comes down to two factors. First, they wanted links so thin that the screws and threadings started to create rigidity in the way it moved; the tiny intermediate links weren't compatible. The second issue was the tiny diameter of flathead screw that would have been necessary if they went that route. Tiny flatheads are notorious for stripping with minimal torque and getting stuck in the links. That more than anything is why Patek switched back to pins and sleeves.

    Great review as always, Given the LV's looks, I would much rather have a Breitling Premier Duograph or a Omega Aqua Terra Wordtimer but they have made a very aesthetically pleasing movement.

    Maybe i am missing something but this is a high end fashion brand that has done well in identifying the fashion trends of the ever changing moment. I like their sneakers and other shoes for that reason, and women like their bags, but would never buy one of their watches for that same sort of reason. I find it really odd that Watchbox would do a “review.”

    At first I thought its Lange odysseus which is not bad. But for the asking price LV can do better that just etchings and pins. The movement looks amazing and the rotor is the cherry on top. As per the new LV watch guy "I dont want to see everyone wearing this watch so I bump the entry level price to 19+K euro and get rid of the rest of the cheap priced collection". 11:22

    One problem i have with these fashion houses are the cheap eatches you can buy from malls. I am not sure if LV has them anymore but i know Channel and Gucci do. They have such a wide range of offerings in different price categories that i believe it brings all of it down. None the less the movement on display here looks lovely.

    Screws always better as we all know. The bracelet would be better if hugging the wrist. The design is quite bland, really nothing special or interesting. Movement is nice. Good value if asking 10k maybe 12 at a push, would still need a very hard think, but at 20k + they are having a laugh.

      Poor people always say a luxury product is worth some arbitrary x price but not the asking y price because they use their own financial circumstance as a metric on what they themselves can afford to determine value for others. With a luxury product that's ridiculous because by its nature the "value" shopper is not its market but rather people with real money. And then the stock reply is that they have x, y or z luxury watch brand to prove their "worth.". Anyone commenting on youtube can say they own this or that but the initial comment always gives away the game.
